Jacinta and Jordan from room 24 were the lucky enough to be invited to the Children's Book Council of Australia's launch of the shortlisted books for 2017. They were able to meet South Australian authors Rosanne Hawke and Mike Dumbleton. Mike read his latest story, Eve and Elly to the students present at the launch. St Peter's library was the venue and BTN came to interview students, including Jacinta and Jordan about the event. The shortlisted books were announced by the SA judges at the event at exactly 11.30.

PALS groups started in week 5 and there are many activities running at lunchtimes in the library and the playground. Students organise and run sessions for others to join in. This makes the library a very busy area at lunchtimes but everyone is engaged and having fun.
The Premier's Reading Challenge is up and running for 2017. We have had many students return their forms after completing the 12 books needed to complete the challenge. Of course we aim for 40 books a year at Ardtornish Primary School and many students read much more.
Congratulations to the Nairne family for being numbers 1, 2 and 3 in the list of children who completed the challenge. |
