Love the art rooms 9 and 10 made to commemorate 100 years of ANZAC. We used chalk pastilles for the poppies and paint/ texta for the sunsets.
Fundraising for Safe Ground
The art show was a fundraiser for current victims of land mines. We donated to “Safe Ground”, a not-for-profit organisation that works to minimise the impacts of war. We asked students to bring along $1 to sponsor their favourite piece of art. Every $1 received a sticky dot to place on a piece of art. It could be their own or another students. The piece/s of art with the most dots were framed and hung in the school. Every $1 donated also received a ticket into the raffle to win a signed copy of "One Step at a Time", a beautiful picture book about the impact of land mines today. ANZAC Art Exhibition
In week 2 of term 2, we had an art exhibition in the school hall. On Thursday May 7th and Friday May 8th, every student exhibited a piece of art based on the ANZAC 100 year Centenary. The art show was a fundraiser for current victims of land mines. We donated to “Safe Ground”, a not-for-profit organisation that works to minimise the impacts of war. A special ANZAC assembly was held on Thursday, May 7th at 11:10-11:40. A community morning tea was held after the assembly. On Friday, May 1st year 3/4 to year 7students walked to Civic Park to participate in the "Field of Remembrance". Local and overseas WW1 soldiers and nurses were remembered with an individually crafted poppy. Pictured is the poppy Jill Woolley requested for her grandfather, Jessie Field. Thank you to Steve Whitehead for the photographs.
Rooms 30 and 31 have bought photos about themselves to school and we have discussed how they have changed. Each class now have 2 books to read and compare their stories.
